The 8th Sunday after Pentecost
Collect: Almighty God, the fountain of all wisdom, you know our necessities before we ask and our ignorance in asking: Have compassion on our weakness, and mercifully give us those things which for our unworthiness we dare not, and for our blindness we cannot ask; through the worthiness of your Son Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

Ministries
Collection of School Supplies underway until Aug. 23rd. Donations will support those families served by the Bromley Neighborhood Civic Center, which include our neighbors and the children of our community! Let’s support those in need.

The Altar Guild is accepting flower and candle memorials for the summer months. Open dates are on the narthex bulletin board.

Vacation Bible School is open to all children and provides an opportunity for children to know the love of our Lord in a community of children. Click for more information.

Love in Action Blood Drive organized by Grace-St. Paul’s and Holy Apostles’ through the Red Cross will be on Saturday, October 10th from 9a-2p. Donors must schedule in advance. More information coming soon. We need a minimum of 45 donors to host the event. A small gift of ourself is a gift of life.

Supporting Local Organizations is one important facet of ministry we accomplish as a parish community by utilizing our spaces for the benefit of our community members. Dedicated parish volunteers help to organize the facility usage. Regularly, we provide space for a children’s cooking program (Kidz Kitchen), an NA group, a meditation group, an Opera company, and more. If you know of any organizations or individuals that would like to use our space, let us know!

Bromley Neighborhood Civic Center collections continue in the narthex. During the summer months, please consider children friendly foods like Spaghetti-Os and Kraft Mac ‘n Cheese.
Saint of the Week: Saint Mary Magdalene

Mary of Magdala
Excerpt: Mary of Magdala’s life was radically changed through Jesus’ healing. Her steadfast companionship, especially as a witness to Jesus’ crucifixion, has remained a generational example of the faithful ministry of women to Christ. Mary is named in all four Gospels and was the first to whom Jesus revealed himself after the Resurrection in the garden when he calls her by name. Mary Magdalene is known, in the Eastern Church, as ‘equal to the apostles’ or ‘apostle to the apostles.’ (more…)
Collect: Almighty God, whose blessed Son restored Mary Magdalene to health of body and of mind, and called her to be a witness of his resurrection: Mercifully grant that by your grace we may be healed from all our infirmities and know you in the power of his unending life; who with you and the Holy Spirit lives and reigns, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

Stewardship
Operations: We are grateful for your commitments of treasure as well as time & talent. We continue to maintain a stable budget which covers our building expenses and minimal employee time, including a 1/3-time salary for our priest. In the face of inflation, we are grateful for your continued support so we can continue to praise God with each other.
Capital Improvements (Nehemiah): We also continue to raise money to support our facility upgrades.

The Hospitality Team is looking forward to your participation in volunteering to provide Coffee Hour now through August.
Vacation Bible School is looking for items to be donated for the program:
12-16oz plastic beverage bottles
Brown paper that comes in packages
Large boxes
Rocks (palm size)
Items we are looking to borrow for the week:
Soccer balls (need 2 or 3)
Stuffed lions or other Safri animals
Turkey baster
Luggage (backpacks, suitcases, etc.)
Lay Leaders are needed to support the parish. Roles include:
Open Warden and Vestry positions,
Memorial Garden Organizer who coordinates clean-ups and maintain the dignity of the beloved of our parish who were laid to rest in it,
Stewardship Leader,
Altar Guild members,
Readers, and
Acolytes!
