Luke 5:19-22: When they could not find a way to do this because of the crowd, they went up on the roof and lowered him on his mat through the tiles into the middle of the crowd, right in front of Jesus. When Jesus saw their faith, he said, “Friend, your sins are forgiven.” The Pharisees and the teachers of the law began thinking to themselves, “Who is this fellow who speaks blasphemy? Who can forgive sins but God alone?” Jesus knew what they were thinking and asked, “Why are you thinking these things in your hearts?”
We sometimes miss the miracles of God in our lives because they are not logical, or do not jive with what we think they should be. The leaders in this reading answered their own question – who is this fellow? Obviously, he is the One with the power of God. Pray that we can keep our eyes open and see the miracles around us.
When does God seem to unexpectedly pop up in your life? Think of a time when you recently felt God was close to you or when you felt God was forgiving your sins.
