Baptisms, Weddings & Funerals

Baptisms

“Holy Baptism is full initiation by water and the Holy Spirit into Christ’s Body the Church.
The bond which God establishes in Baptism is indissoluble.”

–Book of Common Prayer

Grace-St. Paul’s offers baptism to everyone at any age. Once a person is baptized, he or she is a full member of Christ’s Church forever. Baptisms are celebrated during regular Sunday services, four times a year:

  • Easter Vigil
  • Pentecost
  • All Saint’s Day
  • The Feast of the Baptism of our Lord (the first Sunday after Epiphany).

Celebrating a baptism allows us to publically witness the sacrament, welcome another new Christian to our community and to be reminded of our own baptism.

For more information, please contact Grace-St. Paul’s Parish Office at (609) 586-6004 or parishoffice@gracestpaul.org

Weddings

All of us at Grace-St. Paul’s are thrilled to welcome marriage equality to the state of New Jersey! The Sacrament of Marriage is a joyous celebration of a couple’s covenant to one another that is blessed by God before family, friends and the community. The Episcopal Church provides a gender neutral service that honors this commitment between all couples. So if you have a civil union, or civic marriage, the church is pleased to bestow God’s blessing on this relationship. If you do not have any prior legal commitment, we are honored to provide the Sacrament of Marriage for you.

Premarital counseling is required for new marriages, and is usually 4 sessions spaced out over 4 to 6 months. Also, Community Hall may be used for a rehearsal dinner or reception. Arrangements should be made at the time the wedding and rehearsal dates are placed on the church calendar.  Please contact the church office (609) 586-6004 or priest@gracestpaul.org to start the conversation. Your presence among us is a wonderful gift – we are grateful and blessed to be a part of your journey together!

Funerals

When someone dies, Grace-St. Paul’s will celebrate life in the face of death, whether or not the deceased was a member of the church. All arrangements for burial/memorial services are made in consultation with the clergy of the parish. Burial/memorial services follow the rites authorized by the Episcopal Church. Christian burials are customarily held in the church but for pastoral reasons may be held at the funeral home or graveside.
